Former council leader jailed for sexually assaulting young men
Linden was also placed on the sex offenders register after being convicted of 10 offences against five young men and seven teenagers.
On Wednesday, former SNP council leader Jordan Linden was sentenced to 18 months in prison at Falkirk Sheriff Court after being convicted of sexually assaulting five young men.
Linden, who resigned as North Lanarkshire Council leader in 2022, committed 10 separate offenses over a 10-year period from 2011 to 2021, including sexual assault and unwanted sexual communications.
Victims described Linden as "very handsy" and "relentless," with James recounting a "traumatic evening" in 2018 where he "vomited in disgust" after Linden performed a sex act while he slept.
Following the conviction, First Minister John Swinney apologized to victims and ordered an independent review of the SNP's complaints process, while the Scottish Youth Parliament labeled Linden's actions "reprehensible and diametrically opposed" to its values.
Sheriff Christopher Shead placed Linden on the sex offenders register as protesters outside the court building shouted "Scottish Nonce Party" and "beast," marking the end for the former Scottish Youth Parliament chair.
