Forestry project near Tahoe Keys begins ahead of schedule, will reduce wildfire risk

The project uses remote-operated masticators to clear 43 acres of forest, reducing ladder fuels and improving forest health to protect nearby communities, officials said.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif.— On September 2, the California Tahoe Conservancy will begin a 43-acre mastication project on forested state and federal public lands adjacent to the Tahoe Keys neighborhood in South Lake Tahoe.
