FCDO Issues Travel Warnings for 76 Countries Including Thailand and Turkey
The UK FCDO warns British travellers to avoid 76 countries due to Middle East conflict, affecting popular holiday spots and causing flight cancellations, officials said.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has advised against travel to 76 of 226 countries, with guidance being continuously updated.
After joint Israel and US strikes on Iran, Iran retaliated, leading to large parts of Middle Eastern airspace remaining closed, disrupting regional air travel.
Several airlines including British Airways have cancelled flights and are monitoring events, while flights in and out of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, were suspended over the weekend leaving some British travellers stranded.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has tried to reassure travellers and will answer questions in Parliament about steps taken to safeguard British nationals abroad.
Guidance also covers popular holiday spots such as Thailand, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates, and Birmingham Live lists nations from every continent including the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
