The National Commission for the Rights of Children and Young People (CNDCJ) registered for the first time last year 54 cases of forced marriages, maintaining domestic violence as the main reason for applying protective measures.
Last year, the child and youth protection committees (CPCJ) identified 54 cases of early or forced marriages in Portugal, in the Alentejo and Algarve regions. The data, which do not allow comparison with previous years by this type of characterization to be new, were released this Wednesday, during the presentation of the annual evaluation report of the CPCJ in Anadia.
