The Roman Catholic Church has a new pope — and he’s an American from Chicago. After less than two days of secret deliberations, the College of Cardinals elevated Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost to the papacy. Prevost took the name Pope Leo XIV.

The emeritus archbishop of Vienna is pleased with the election of Prevost as the new Pope, who has humour and "does not take himself too important." He could strengthen the "team spirit" in the Vatican, which sometimes lacks it.
