Football: Singapore to take on Brazil, Paraguay in friendlies at National Stadium in November
The inaugural four-team tournament will feature 5th-ranked Brazil, 17th-ranked Japan and 34th-ranked Paraguay as Singapore prepares for the AFC Asian Cup.
On Thursday, The Kallang Group and Dentsu Sports International announced the 'Mizuho Blue Challenge,' a four-team football tournament featuring Brazil, Japan, Paraguay, and Singapore at the National Stadium from November 13 to 17.
Commemorating 60 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Japan, the series provides crucial preparation for both nations ahead of the AFC Asian Cup in January next year.
Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti called the friendlies an 'important step in building the Brazilian national team for the coming years,' while Singapore head coach Gavin Lee said matches 'test us and show us where we are.'
Tickets go on sale Friday, September 4, with prices starting from $28 for the opening match, while the November 17 doubleheader featuring Singapore against Brazil and Japan against Paraguay costs $98 per ticket.
Brazil and Japan are scheduled to face off in a rematch of their 2026 World Cup clash, where Brazil secured a 2-1 victory; the nations previously met at the National Stadium in 2014 before 51,577 spectators.
