On Monday, June 30 in the afternoon, the storm rang on the Mauritanian peaks after several days of heat. The torrent of the Charmaix overflowed over the dikes over 60 years old and flooded the city centre of Fourneaux. In the aftermath of the disaster and fearing a second stormy episode, the traders and residents try to remove the mud from their shops and ground floor.

After thunderstorms of unheard of violence, a torrent of mud caused extensive damage near Modane (Savoie). The authorities are talking about a flood that has been unheard of for 70 years.

Some 20 firefighters and many volunteers have been cleaning the flooded streets of Fournaux, Modane and Saint-Colomban-des-Villards since Monday night. The material damage is impressive in this part of the Maurienne valley in Savoie.
