ST. PETE-CLEARWATER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, FLORIDA, JUL 6 – A passenger threat forced Allegiant Flight 1023 to return and delay departure while law enforcement investigated and took the individual into custody, officials said.
- On Sunday afternoon, Allegiant Flight 1023 from St. Pete-Clearwater to Roanoke returned to the airport after a passenger threatened a bomb onboard.
- The threat followed a verbal altercation between two passengers, prompting the airline to reverse course per its policy against disruptive behavior.
- Law enforcement safely took the disruptive passenger into custody after the plane landed, and a search confirmed no bomb was present.
- Allegiant spokesperson Andrew Porrello explained that the flight required a new crew because the current team was nearing the maximum hours allowed by the FAA, and he expressed regret for the disruption this caused passengers.
- Passengers deplaned and will receive $100 vouchers, while the flight will continue to Roanoke after staff re-crew, reflecting Allegiant's commitment to safety and service.
