Skiers and snowboarders from Russia, Belarus get neutral status terms from FIS for new season
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation says athletes from Russia and Belarus can continue to compete with approved neutral status this season but no symbols of national identity.
The International Federation of Ski and Snowboarding (FIS) has decided to admit Belarusian and Russian athletes in the so-called neutral status from the new season.
The International Federation of Ski Sports has defined conditions for the participation of athletes from two countries during the 2026/27 season.
The International Federation of Ski Sports allowed Russians and Belarusians to act in neutral status, provided that neutrality is observed.
At a meeting in Swiss Tuna, the FIS Council decided that athletes and support staff from Belarus and Russia could be admitted to the FIS competition provided that they signed a declaration of neutrality; compliance with the principles of neutrality would be constantly monitored.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) has lifted sanctions against Russia and Belarus for the 2026/27 season.
