In an international operation on May 19 and 20, the criminal VPN service FirstVPN was taken offline. During the operation, a total of 33 servers linked to the service were dismantled. The suspected administrator was questioned in Ukraine at the request of France.

The FBI said the VPN had been used by 'at least 25 ransomware groups,' including Avaddon, for activities including botnet operations, denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, scams, and hacking.
From 19 to 20 May, 33 servers were seized from the service in 27 countries, and the administrator was detained in Ukraine. The operations involved the forces of France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland and other States.
