Steam Machine Pricing May Have Just Leaked by Retailer — and It's Not Cheap
Hidden Steam Machine prices on a Czech retailer site suggest costs near $900 to $1,070, possibly inflated by markup, amid rising PC gaming component prices.
- On January 9, 2026, Smarty.cz's site source code revealed a preliminary Steam Machine 512GB model listing, exposed by Clawsomegamer, code-snooping account.
- After Valve withheld pricing, observers turned to retailer listings as Valve, maker of Steam and the Steam Machine, promised pre-order plans early this year for the Steam Frame VR headset.
- The retailer's 17% markup suggests adjusted prices near $814 and $916, while source-code entries recorded prices of 19,826 CZK and 22,306 CZK for the 512GB and 2TB models.
- At that range, the Steam Machine would exceed current high-end consoles, as Valve has indicated pricing more like a gaming PC than a $500 console.
- Consumers already face higher game and console prices after last year as the RAM shortage and semiconductor supply issues driven by AI demand could persist into 2027.
