First of three flights bringing Ukrainians to Canada to land in Winnipeg

The first of three charter flights bringing about 900 Ukrainian refugees fleeing Russia's invasion to Canada landed in Winnipeg Monday. The flight was met by Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and Winnipeg Liberal MPs Dan Vandal, Jim Carr, Kevin Lamoureux and Terry Duguid as well as members of the Rusalka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. The refugees were taken to the province's Ukrainian Refugee Reception Centre near the airport to receive help with settlement.
