Guardians Broadcaster Takes Shot at Jazz Chisholm Following Yankees Star's Appearance on 'The Tonight Show'
Hamilton mocked Chisholm’s .239 batting average after the Yankees star predicted a World Series title on Jimmy Fallon.
On Tuesday, Cleveland Guardians radio play-by-play announcer Tom Hamilton questioned why Yankees 2B Jazz Chisholm deserved the spotlight on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon after predicting a Yankees World Series win.
Hamilton's jab followed Chisholm's Monday appearance on the Jimmy Fallon Show; entering Tuesday, the infielder struggled at the plate, hitting.239 with a 27.5% strikeout rate among the worst in baseball.
Chisholm's advanced metrics highlight his offensive difficulties, with a 31st percentile Batting Run Value and most other categories under the 50th percentile, including xBA at.214 in the 13th percentile.
Despite his offensive struggles, the New York Yankees hold a 36-23 record ranking second in the American League, while Chisholm previously borrowed teammate Giancarlo Stanton's pants to rediscover a baggy look.
Chisholm remains confident the Yankees will capture their elusive 28th World Series title, stating he "for sure" believes in the club as they sit 0.5 games out of first place in the AL East.
