Shell Delivered Record Amount of Marine LNG To Ships In 2024
Shell Plc said it delivered a record 1.1 million tons of marine liquefied natural gas to power vessels in 2024, as the world’s largest LNG player sees expanding use of the fuel that has become crucial to the energy transition.
Shell’s LNG bunkering volumes jump in 2024
“This was achieved with 1000 bunkering operations across 26 bunkering locations in 12 countries, by 12 bunker barges,” Dexter Belmar, Shell’s head of global downstream LNG said in a LinkedIn post on Thursday. Shell worked with Carnival, CMA CGM, Eastern Pacific Shipping, K Line, Northern Lights JV, Seaboard Marine, ZIM, and others on the LNG bunkering operations. Shell supplies record amount of LNG to propel ships
Last year, Shell supplied a record amount of 1.1 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to power ships. The oil and gas group expects that the use of LNG, as a cleaner alternative to other fossil marine fuels such as fuel oil, will increase by around 60 percent by 2040.
