A 34-year-old climber from St. Petersburg died suddenly on July 6 while ascending 5,642m Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, located in Russia's Caucasus Mountains. According to EMERCOM (the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations) and the Fontanka newspaper, the man fell ill at 5,500m, just above the saddle.
