- This year's celebrations included the inauguration in Islamabad of the Yadgar-e-Fatah, or Monument of Victory, commemorating what Pakistan calls the "Battle of Truth" against India last year.
- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned in televised remarks that Pakistan's desire for peace should not be seen as weakness, referencing the May 2025 four-day conflict with India that killed 26 people.
- Sharif also criticized India for suspending the World Bank-brokered water sharing treaty governing the Indus River. "Every drop of water is our red line," he said, warning Pakistan would respond to threats.
- Official celebrations are set to continue Friday with flag-raising ceremonies. In Peshawar, residents visited markets Thursday to purchase clothes in national colors for the festivities.
