Mozilla definitively closes a chapter in Firefox's history. The foundation has just announced the end of support for 32-bit Linux systems with the release of Firefox 144, scheduled for October 2025. This decision marks the end of a time when Firefox was the last large browser to maintain compatibility with aging architectures.
After Mozilla's browser Firefox has been deployed for 32-bit Linux systems for a long time and long after most other browsers and operating systems had stopped supporting it, this phase also ends with Mozilla. Firefox 145 will then no longer provide 32-bit Linux support. It has been decided, however, that 32-bit Linux will no longer be supported by most Linux distributions.
The Mozilla Foundation announced that it will stop supporting Firefox for Linux 32-bit systems in September 2026, and recommends that users migrate to 64-bit systems to continue receiving updates.
