Thousands of people, tourists and residents, had been evacuated because of the fire that burned 42,000 hectares.
The situation on the fire front is stabilized in the Var, while in Gironde most of the evacuees were able to return to their homes. A fire which declared itself this Sunday in the Aude has travelled a hundred hectares before being fixed.
Our special envoy James André is in Lège-Cap-Ferret, where residents are not yet allowed to return. Volunteers "try to secure the commune by drowning the land where there is a fire risk," he reports.
The Gironde prefecture has allowed thousands of evacuees to return this Monday to the communes of Lège-Cap-Ferret and Porge, except in campsites. Follow the evolution of the situation live.
