Finding Faith: Youngest child liberated by graduation
The family credits teachers and administrators who supported her dyslexia as she leaves school and starts work after 18 years at home.
Our youngest daughter, Siri, graduated high school and moved away this past week within two hours. After Twenty-eight years of raising children, the transition feels sudden.
Shelley and I felt Siri was trapped in schools that did not see the child we knew. Born a fighter, she worked through an academic system not designed for students who learn differently.
One high school teacher saw Siri as an individual within a sea of 2,400 other students, providing an oasis during 13 years of schooling. Gratitude is owed to such educators.
Right now, she is headed to a new employment adventure, liberated from limiting school strictures. But now she is ready to use Her God-given gifts in the workforce.
My little Sazzi Lou, my Cronkindominous Rex, finally gets a chance to be herself. Go fly my girl, and do not look back at the academic desert she had to traverse.
