It was one of only five specimens worldwide: the F60 conveyor bridge in the former open pit Jänschwalde in Brandenburg. Now it was blown up. 13,000 tons of steel remain behind, waiting for its scrapping.
The F60 conveyor bridge is one of the largest industrial machines in the world. At the same time it is a landmark in the Lausitzer coal district. After more than 45 years of service it is blown up. Also for the Prime Minister a moving moment.
It is a day filled with melancholy, with tears flowing. Miners from the Lusatian lignite mining region gather – the crossed mining symbol of hammer and pick on their jackets. For the last time, the miners' greeting "Glück auf" (Good luck) rings out from the legendary F60 conveyor bridge.
