FIFA to grant access to documents from scrapped World Cup sell-off plan
Council members will review the scrapped World Cup sell-off proposal under restricted conditions as UEFA presses FIFA for answers on governance and decision-making.
On Monday, FIFA announced it will grant Council members access to key documents regarding the defunct FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal, requiring in-person review at the organization's Zurich headquarters under specific conditions.
The decision comes on the deadline European soccer governing body UEFA set for FIFA to answer questions about President Gianni Infantino's leadership, following the organization's warnings of potential legal action over governance concerns.
FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom indicated the organization viewed UEFA's two-week deadline to answer more than 100 questions as unfeasible, citing its focus on organizing the inaugural Under-15 World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Documents currently available relate solely to the FFE proposal, a plan previously abandoned amid backlash over a proposed $20bn valuation, with officials stating access conditions aim to preserve confidentiality obligations.
UEFA hopes the deadline pressure impacts Infantino before the November 18 cut-off for candidates to confirm their participation in next year's presidential election, as the FIFA Congress on November 23 will determine hosts for the 2031 and 2035 Women's World Cups.
As a temporary solution to all the current problems, FIFA has offered to look into confidential documents related to the FFE project, which was the original reason for the disagreements.

The withdrawn investor plans of the World Football Association are to be investigated. According to the media, FIFA now wants to grant access to documents.
