The EU Council failed to adopt the 18th package of European sanctions against Russia in March, after Slovakia asked for a second vote on this package because it did not receive sufficient guarantees that the stopover of Russian gas imports into the EU from 2028 will not harm its economy, reports Reuters and EEE agencies.
The Slovak government is demanding that the European Commission be allowed to buy Russian gas until 2034, threatening otherwise to block the 18th package of sanctions against Russia.
