FIA makes surprising revelation in its 2024 F1 Cost Cap Compliance report

On Tuesday the International Automobile Federation confirmed all 10 Formula 1 teams complied with the 2024 championship cost cap, noting Aston Martin Racing committed a very minor procedural breach.
Failure to file signed audited annual financial statements by the March deadline triggered the procedural finding, which the International Automobile Federation said resulted from unpredictable circumstances outside Aston Martin Racing's control.
Last month Aston Martin Racing and the FIA entered an Accepted Breach Agreement under Article 6.28 of F1 financial regulations to resolve the matter.
There will be no sanctions, the FIA confirmed Aston Martin Racing will face no penalties and had not exceeded the cost cap, contrasting with the Red Bull 2021 overspend that triggered a $7 million fine and a 10% reduction in wind tunnel and CFD testing.
After late FIA publication of 2024 accounts, Tuesday confirmed all five engine manufacturers—Mercedes, Honda, Renault, Ferrari, and incoming Audi project—met the cost cap.
