A badly burned body found midday on Thursday in a field in Serres, northern Greece, is believed to belong to a 59-year-old man who strangled his wife to death earlier in the day.

The body of a charred man was found a short time ago in a burnt manta about 500 meters from the murder scene in Sitochori, Serres. Men from the fire brigade and police rushed to the scene. The case is being investigated as belonging to the 59-year-old who had earlier called the police.
