Chicago Federal Reserve President Austan Goolsbee said inflation remains the central bank's biggest concern despite some improvement in services prices.
The president of the Federal Reserve (Fed) district of Chicago, Austan Goolsbee, said he sees positive signs in the most recent inflation report, but stressed that price pressures remain high. The Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index, the Fed's preferred inflation indicator, rose 4.1% in May on an annual basis, the largest increase since April 2023, and well above the 2% target.
