Feds raid storage facility while investigating alleged ISIS-inspired bomb plot in NYC
FBI searches Bucks County storage unit for explosives linked to two teens charged with ISIS-inspired attempted bombing outside NYC mayor's residence.
- On Monday, Feds searched a Bucks Co. storage facility after two individuals were charged in a terror plot involving Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi, who allegedly attacked outside a NYC residence on Saturday.
- Investigators are probing whether 'This is being investigated as an act of ISIS-inspired terrorism', NYPD said, as prosecutors allege Balat signed an ISIS pledge and both admitted acting because of ISIS.
- Investigators say the mason-jar sized device contained TATP, had nuts and bolts attached, and a notebook listed TATP ingredients, with license-plate data tracking the vehicle onto the George Washington Bridge.
- The FBI noted neither suspect was on a terror watchlist, and both are in federal custody, facing charges including supporting ISIS, as officials increase security in New York City.
- The FBI has declined to say whether additional evidence was recovered at the Langhorne storage facility, and authorities have not detailed how the teens became radicalized or whether others were involved.
