FDA acknowledges estrogen patch shortage, says it’s working to increase supply

- Increased awareness of menopause has spurred legislative action nationwide, with the National Menopause Foundation reporting more than 60 related bills introduced this year. Additionally, 26 states have enacted menopause-related laws since 2019, Stateline reported.
- Working with all six manufacturers, the FDA aims to expand capacity and prioritize production to close the supply gap. The agency "views increased interest in menopause treatment as an important development for women's health," according to an earlier release.
