Family of UK tiger attack victim urges end to video sharing after Trump posts footage
Trump later shared AI-generated clips after posting the fatal attack video, drawing criticism as the victim’s family and police urged people not to circulate it.
- The family of 23-year-old William Chapman issued a public plea urging people to stop sharing graphic footage of his fatal encounter at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, stating the online circulation is causing severe distress during a period of immense grief.
- The appeal followed public backlash against U.S. President Donald Trump, who shared a clip of the attack to his millions of Truth Social followers alongside the caption, "Don't ever mess with nature!".
- South Yorkshire Police and local officials reinforced the family's statement, urging the public and media platforms to refrain from sharing or reposting footage out of respect for the victim and the ongoing coronial investigation.
- Relatives described Chapman as a bright young man who had struggled with severe mental health issues in recent years, asking the public to allow local authorities to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death.
- The City of Doncaster Council opened a formal health and safety investigation into the incident, while park officials confirmed that the Amur tiger involved, named Altai, will not be euthanized.
