Suspect Charged After Family Finds Missing Woman’s Body In Greene County
Family and friends found her remains after a weeklong search, and investigators say 44-year-old Randall Lendell Dejourney was taken into custody.
On Saturday, May 16, family and friends discovered the remains of 23-year-old Karen Deann Hollis in Greene County, Alabama; authorities charged Randall Lendell Dejourney with abuse of a corpse in connection with her death.
Hollis was reported missing to the Northport Police Department on May 8, and initial investigative findings led authorities to suspect foul play was involved in her disappearance.
Family and friends located the remains in an area the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office said had been "identified through recovered electronic evidence," with assistance from the Greene County Sheriff's Office.
Dejourney is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $15,000 cash bond while the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit leads the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, and officials stated investigators may file additional or upgraded charges pending those results.
