F1 United States LIVE: Race updates as Antonelli has chance of sealing title
Antonelli started on pole at the Circuit of The Americas with Max Verstappen alongside him, pulling away cleanly at turn 1 while Verstappen conceded position to Ferrari's Charles Leclerc.
Before the race, several drivers faced grid penalties affecting the starting lineup. Lindblad and Colapinto received penalties, Bortoleto started from the back, and Stroll began in the pit lane after Aston Martin replaced his power unit and battery.
The top-eight drivers remained close during the opening lap, with Mercedes driver George Russell starting on mediums. Verstappen only just kept Lewis Hamilton at bay as positions solidified early.
London Koi Jones performed the Star-Spangled Banner on the Austin home straight before the race, marking the second time this season the anthem played before an F1 event.
Teams treat every race as a test session to accumulate knowledge for next year's car development. "The drivers are doing a phenomenal job," providing crucial feedback as the focus shifts toward future advancement.
