Explosion destroys room at Delft asylum shelter; E-scooter battery suspected as cause

An explosion occurred Saturday morning at a former hotel in Delft housing asylum seekers. A spokesperson for the safety region confirmed reports from Regio15 that part of the facade on the fifth floor was blown away. Although residents had to temporarily evacuate the building on Kleveringweg, he said there was "not much for the fire department to do."
