Explosion at a Pennsylvania nursing home kills at least 2, governor says

Tuesday, an explosion ripped through Silver Lake Nursing Home in Bristol Township, killing at least two people and leaving many injured and missing around 2:15 p.m.
Authorities suspect a gas leak after PECO crews reported a gas odor shortly before the explosion and shut off natural gas and electric service for safety.
Images and crew logs show the blast began in the basement, causing fire and partial collapse while firefighters from Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia counties and Burlington County, New Jersey operated under Level 2 Mass Casualty protocols.
Local officials established a reunification center at Truman High School, and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said PEMA and State Police offered full support and urged people to avoid the area.
Records from Oct. 29, 2025 show the nursing home out of compliance on fire safety issues, and the Pennsylvania Department of Health visited on Dec. 10 to plan upgrades; the facility was recently renamed Bristol Health & Rehab Center.
