Exit Polls Show No Clear Winner in Israel’s Election
Exit polls showed Likud ahead but left both blocs short of the 61-seat majority needed to form a government, raising weeks of coalition talks.
- On Tuesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party emerged as the largest faction in Israel's election, but neither his bloc nor the opposition secured the 61 seats needed for a parliamentary majority.
- Voter participation surged to 74.3% by 8 p.m. Tuesday, the highest level recorded since 1988, driven by intense mobilization across all sectors including Arab communities.
- Exit polls project Netanyahu's bloc at 50 seats and the opposition at 52–53, while Arab parties are projected to win 17–18 seats, potentially serving as kingmakers in coalition negotiations.
- Following certification of official results on November 4, 2026, President Isaac Herzog will task a lawmaker with forming a government, a process that could span weeks or trigger new elections.
- This election marks Israel's first national vote since October 7, 2023, with the inconclusive result leaving the country facing potential political instability if coalition negotiations fail.
