Dramatic Video: Mother Rescues Man Drowning

On Monday night, West Palm Beach resident Annmarie Sanchez risked her life to rescue a man from his submerged vehicle on flooded Willow Pond Road, where the road had become indistinguishable from the lake.
Sanchez dove in after noticing many residents on the bank were filming the scene instead of helping. "I just couldn't sit there and let a stranger die in front of me and not do anything," she said.
As she struggled to pull the driver toward shore, Sanchez grew desperate and called the lack of assistance "very frustrating." A second woman swam out to help, and together they brought the man to safety.
On Thursday afternoon, the man Sanchez saved introduced himself as Bill at her home, saying "Thank you for having the courage to jump in when nobody else did. Thank you for saving me."
Sanchez hopes to keep in touch with Bill and is searching for the woman who assisted during the rescue to thank her personally. Video from the scene captured their emotional reunion.
