China is increasing its purchases of American soybeans ahead of Xi Jinping's planned meeting with Donald Trump at the end of the month. According to Reuters, the Chinese state-owned importer has contracted approximately one million tons of soybeans, which have been a key element of the economic rivalry between the two powers for years.
With these purchases, China's total procurement of American soybeans reached almost half of the 25 million tons that, according to the White House, Beijing has committed to buying annually until 2028.
