Reports: Former Chief Allen Bailey Dies at 37
Bailey’s family believes he died of natural causes, while officials have not announced a cause of death.
On Tuesday, former NFL defensive end Allen Bailey died at age 37 after his wife discovered him inside their Florida home; his family believes he passed away from natural causes.
The Chiefs selected Bailey 86th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft, and he played 133 regular-season games over 10 seasons, recording 22 sacks and 248 combined tackles.
After his retirement, Bailey founded the Allen Bailey Foundation in 2012 to support Georgia families, establishing McIntosh County's first free football camp and distributing more than 300 turkeys annually.
Former Miami teammate Colin McCarthy wrote, "Love you Big Cuzzo!" while former Chiefs offensive lineman Jeff Allen posted, "Lost a teammate, a friend, a brother."
Born on Sapelo Island, Georgia, Bailey attended McIntosh County Academy before playing college football for the Miami Hurricanes and eventually reaching the NFL.
