Ex-Boyfriend of Missing DC Woman Detained in Pennsylvania for Alleged Probation Violation
Police say investigators are treating Forbes’ home and car as crime scenes while her ex-boyfriend is held in Pennsylvania on a probation-violation warrant.
On September 4, Antoinette Forbes, 53, disappeared from the 3200 block of Nebraska Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., prompting the Metropolitan Police Department to classify her as a critical missing person.
Prior to her disappearance, Forbes had been involved in a years-long custody battle; five years ago, Russell Ashford, her ex-boyfriend and father of her son, was convicted of severely beating her in their Chevy Chase home.
Investigators are treating Forbes' home and vehicle as a crime scene after family discovered her phone, wallet, and car keys left behind; the National Presbyterian Church stated she disappeared in "mysterious circumstances from her home."
Ashford is being held in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, on a probation violation warrant after allegedly attempting to pick up his son from summer camp in July, though police have not named him as a suspect in Forbes' disappearance.
During a vigil Saturday at the National Presbyterian Church, close friend Alison Williams said, "We're very interested in seeing her return to her son," expressing community concern for Forbes' wellbeing.
