How to Update Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Get the New DLC
Update 3.0 introduces a new resort, expanded crafting and storage, and an optional $4.99 Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade with enhanced graphics and multiplayer for up to 12 players.
- Nintendo released Animal Crossing: New Horizons update v3.0 with a pier resort run by Kapp'n's family and offers an optional Switch 2 upgrade for $4.99 via the Nintendo eShop.
- The free v3.0 drop and Switch 2 upgrade arrived together to refresh the game and "give your game a huge shot in the arm," Nintendo said.
- Hotel features let players design hotel rooms for guests with themed decor, exchanging DIY items for tickets spent at Gran's souvenir shop on exclusive resort items.
- Players are prompted via Isabelle's announcements to check the new pier, while Nintendo Switch Online enables friends to visit and decorate together, and new Nook Miles objectives offer fresh challenges.
- Among the QoL upgrades, the update adds crafting/storage features for mass-crafting and tree storage, while LEGO, The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon and amiibo crossovers expand customization and Luna's Slumber Islands offer sandbox decorating.
