Evacuation order and some alerts, lifted for fire burning near Lytton, B.C.
LYTTON, BRITISH COLUMBIA, AUG 6 – Evacuation orders lifted as containment improves on the 1,425-hectare Cantilever Bar fire near Lytton, aided by recent cooler weather and light rain, BC Wildfire Service said.
- By August 6, 2025, evacuation alerts had been removed for areas near the Cantilever Bar wildfire, including those issued by Lytton, Thompson-Nicola Regional District, and Siska communities.
- The evacuation order was initially issued because of the Cantilever Bar wildfire, which was sparked by a combination of high temperatures, dry conditions, and numerous lightning strikes, with some evacuation alerts in nearby areas still remaining active.
- Firefighters made good progress containing the roughly five-square-kilometre blaze north of Cameron Lake amid light rain and cooler weather aiding their efforts.
- The fire exhibited mainly low-vigour surface burning with some higher intensity spots, and crews guarded the blaze from spreading to homes and Highway 4 while night-vision helicopters worked overnight.
- Firefighters have reclassified the Cantilever Bar wildfire as contained, lifting its previous out-of-control designation, while approximately 125 wildfires remain active throughout British Columbia.

KAMLOOPS — An evacuation order and multiple evacuation alerts related to the Cantilever Bar fire south of Lytton have been rescinded. As of 11:45 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 5), Lytton First Nation announced it has downgraded its evacuation order for reserves Lytton 26A and Skwayaynope 26 to all clear.
