Euthanasia Now Accounts for 5 Percent of All Deaths in Canada: Data

More than 16,000 people died by medical assistance in dying (MAID) in Canada last year, according to the latest government numbers. The sixth annual Report on Medical Assistance in Dying in Canada, released by Health Canada on Nov. 28, reported that a total of 16,499 people died by MAID in 2024, a 6.9 percent increase over 2023.
