Australia Soars Into Eurovision Final as UK Song Gets Mixed Reception
Goodrem’s theatrical ballad performance helped Australia reach the final for the first time since 2023, while boycotts over Israel’s entry shadowed the contest.
On Thursday, Australian superstar Delta Goodrem qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final after delivering a stunning performance of her ballad "Eclipse" in Vienna, Austria.
Goodrem, a former star of the Australian soap opera "Neighbours," is one of the competition's most recognizable acts for 2026, accompanied by a harpist during her showstopping performance.
Nine other acts survived Thursday's cull to join Goodrem in the final, alongside automatic qualifiers from the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and France, whose broadcasters contribute most financially to Eurovision.
Goodrem is now the second favourite to win the trophy, rapidly closing in on Finland, who have long been predicted to secure victory on Saturday night.
Public broadcasters from five countries, including Spain and Ireland, boycotted the 2026 event over Israel's participation, though Israel's contestant Noam Bettan secured a place in the final.
