The initiative was launched by the European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, and continues to allow newly-born MEPs to have the opportunity to appoint a colleague to vote on their behalf, Euroctive. We are talking about a mechanism that should be valid for a period of three months before birth and six months after, when Members cannot take part physically in the vote, including at the plenary sessions of Strasbourg.
