Eugenio Fonseca was president of the Caritas Diocesan of Setúbal between 1987 and 2016, having been appointed in 1999 by the Portuguese Episcopal Conference to chair the body at national level, a position he held until 2020. He now presides over the Portuguese Confederation of Volunteering.
The former president of the Portuguese Caritas led the institution for more than two decades and devoted much of his life to the social sector and volunteering. This Wednesday he was the victim of a cardiorespiratory stop.
Eugenio Fonseca was also president of Caritas Diocesan of Setúbal between 1987 and 2016.
