EU avoids US tariff letter, eyes concessions, EU sources say
The European Union will not receive a letter from the United States setting out higher tariffs, EU sources familiar with the matter told Reuters on Monday, and is eyeing possible exemptions from the U.S. baseline levy of 10%.


The EU is awaiting a customs notice from the US. If the EU responds, Norway could be affected.
"We will be firm, but we prefer a negotiated solution, which is why we are negotiating closely with the US administration to reach an agreement," said the president of the Community Executive at the plenary session of the House in a debate on the European Council last week in June. "We stick to our two principles. We defend our interests. We continue to work in good faith. And we prepare for all scenarios," she said to MEPs.
