Only a few EU countries met the deadline for the Pay Transparency Directive. Indeed’s data shows possible changes in the share of job postings that include salary information.
The new EU rules would end the practice of job seekers only finding out how much they could earn at the end of a lengthy selection process. Starting salaries or salary ranges should be disclosed at the latest before the job interview, but most member states missed the deadline to transpose the directive. Where stricter rules have been introduced, job advertisements that include salaries have increased dramatically in just a few months.
MOST EU member states are lagging behind in implementing the Pay Transparency Directive. Italy is the only major economy to have implemented it, and the share of salary advertisements has risen to 61%. The aim is to reduce discrimination.
