On Tuesday, the European Parliament voted in favour of strengthening the safeguard clauses on agricultural products provided for in the trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and the South American common market for agricultural products.
These safeguard measures provide for monitoring of sensitive products such as beef, poultry or sugar and a possible reintroduction of customs duties in the event of market destabilization.
