The European Commission has stepped up its efforts to help citizens of member states who are struggling to return to their countries due to the war in the Middle East. Under the newly launched rescEU mechanism, the Commission can cover up to 100% of the costs of transporting EU citizens. The first flights were carried out at the request of Romania.
