The European Parliament and the Council of the EU agreed on Tuesday evening to revise the European directive on so-called package travel, which, among other things, strengthens the rights of passengers while reducing the burden on providers. In the event of force majeure, passengers will be able to cancel their trip and be entitled to a refund.

EU strengthens protection for package holiday travellers
The Council of the European Union (EU) and the European Parliament have reached an agreement to update the rules protecting travellers with package holidays, following “lessons learned during the Covid-19 pandemic” and bankruptcies in the sector.
Travellers are expected to have more rights in the EU in the event of cancellation of booked packages and reimbursements.
