Police Seek Anonymous Letter Writer in 2012 House Fire Probe

On Thursday, Essex Police appealed to the author of an anonymous letter containing "a number of details" about the 2012 house fire in Barn Mead, Harlow, that killed a mother and her five children.
Abdul Shakoor was the sole survivor of the October 15, 2012, blaze that killed his wife, Sabah Usmani, and their five children when fire engulfed their home at 1:40 a.m.
Operation Shakespeare, the murder investigation running for almost 14 years, has engaged more than 70 officers and examined almost 2,000 items; about 500 witnesses provided statements, though a 2014 inquest returned an open conclusion.
Detective Chief Inspector Louise Metcalfe stated the writer "clearly want Dr Shakoor to get justice for his family," urging the individual to come forward with assurance they will be treated fairly.
Coroner Caroline Beasley Murray previously noted "not all of the pieces of the jigsaw are there yet," while investigators remain "committed to securing answers for Dr Shakoor" regarding his lost family.
