At the end of August this year, one of Espanola’s local paramedics, Ashley Dieks, 39, will be peddling hard with many uphill battles in a cycling event held in Iceland. She was the only Canadian chosen to participate in the (ICE) Iceland Cycling Expedition out of 100 applicants last January.
